Refugees From EBM Discussion Board Are Here! | Support Forum | eBayMotorsSucks.com
AhHa.. Just moseyed over to the motors board and noticed this:
Well lets see here. Black Max is another eBay forum cheerleader and probably a Lithium moderator / shill under cover. They want to stop the common chatter that's off topic. If they do that Motors Forum will become a ghost town.
Geez i wonder where everyone went? Said sarcastically, eBay ran all the good guys off the site! Yea boy it sure was fun back in the good ole days. Just like eBay ran all the good ma and pa car sellers away in their quest to get all the franchised dealerships on-board. Don't look like that's working out too well for them. I wouldnt doubt they dump the motors site soon.
Oh well such is life i guess.
So glad to see ya!
Yes, the EBM board was always a lot of fun (until recently)- it was the one forum which was always a constant for me- guess there's just somethin about good-old "car people"- and we sure had the best of the best.
So many regulars are gone now- and I don't just mean the ones who have passed away- but so many who have just stopped posting there- and now with this Lithium non-sense, there is just no sense in trying to maintain the community we once had, because it is apparent that they don't want it.
Never, until the last few months, have I've seen threads moved and posts deleted from the forum- not to mention constant suspensions (I got suspended for a week recently, because I posted a "pornographic image"- a picture of a wooden barrel's bung hole....)
Hope ya don't mind us coming here.....
And it'll be nice being able to speak the truth about Ebay with impunity.
And I did think it funny when I saw Max posting in EBM.
Yea it's good to see you too!
I'll raise your security to avoid the moderation thingy. It's needed to keep the spam bots away.
Everyone is welcome here for sure.
The Classic phpBB3 forums are over here. Many of you still have accounts there. I disabled registration a few years ago due to spam bots eating the forum alive. It might be a better option than this WordPress setup.
If we get a lot of posters I will spring the $400 for vBulletin 5 Connect with the mobile app, that's the best forum software going today.
Welcome eBay Motors Forum posters.
This forum software is not the best, but you are welcome to use it if you feel comfortable with it.
I reactivated registration on the old classic forums: https://www.ebaymotorssucks.com/bb/index.php many of the old users have accounts on these forums already. If you are in the user list and cant remember your password there is a reset feature as long as your email address is the same. Otherwise contact me to reset it for you.
Have fun! No pink slaps here!
Bruce (Brutee) is on the way over...and hopefully others will follow.
Hey, Doc...meant to ask ya: Did ya ever have any luck selling that old LeBaron convertible? I was just curious, because I remember watching the video of it that you had posted just before ya vanished from Ebay.
Tony, those San Jose faggots would enjoy taking it up the ass....so I say kick'em in the balls, instead!
PS. Doc, before spending any money, are you familiar with the Proboards forums? I used to have one...they're pretty nice for free...and can be easily customized.....
I'm very glad that you're happy to have us here, as I was thinking to myself last night "It's not right just to start walking all over Doc's forum; better ask him if it's O-K, 1st!".
LOL at Tony's post last night.. Good response too!
Bruce was having problems with his password so i reset it for him. Hopefully he gets logged in OK.
Speaking of Passwords, members have the option of changing the computer generated password to something easy to remember. Just visit your profile, button on the top of the forum. You can also upload an avatar. The system uses Gravitar's as a default.
Yes i am familiar with Proboard. It's comparable to our old phpBB3 classic forums. The problem is with some of the old formats. Automated spam bots will eat a system alive. That's one advantage of this setup Simple-Press.com is it uses WordPress as it's operating system. It is actually real good, but takes some getting used to.
You guys / gals have fun. I created another topic area this morning for general chit chat etc.
Have fun and let me know if i can be of any assistance.
Doc, it is SO great to be in a friendly forum! I wish I would have come here a lot sooner. I used to check this site out once in a while....I love reading about the various scams; and also hearing the truth about Ebay and PayEnemy!
Hah! I just got banned from the Ebay boards, for "encouraging others to leave Ebay".
Kind of ironic, eh? They're constantly suspending/banning people and deleting posts and threads.....like they don't want us around....but encouraging others to go to another board is heresy?!
Ol Jake musta been pushing the report button a lot!
Liveworld banned me from the eBay Motors form way back in 2003 for starting another forum and encouraging others to join up.
Believe me eBay has done a good job al by themselves encouraging users to leave the stadium. It's nobody's fault but eBay's that they screwed motors into the ground!
One thing i like about this forum - no fink button!
Looks like you were the only one that made it here. Bruce requested a password reset but so far has not shown up.
As for the others, I'm sure they are afraid of getting suspended from eBay if they are seen here. However any username is allowed. Members here are requested not to use their eBay ID when registering on this forum. And there is no way eBay will get any of my users information, IP's etc. This site is secure and is cloud hosted for enhanced security.
There is much more activity going on over at my Naru Messengers Forum. Might want to check that site out. I'm doing webcast interviews with eBay members that have been suspended.
I'll give that Naru forum a look when I have a chance, Doc. (I think my uncle used to have a naru jacket! :D)
I was just watching some vids about Ebay on Youtube last night- including one of yours! I love to see people realizing the truth and ratting-out Ebay's nefarious practices!
And the general public is seeing the light!
Used to be, if someone on some forum asked for advice about selling something, everyone'd say "Ebay it". Now, someone mentions selling something, and 75% of the other posters warn them NOT to sell it on Ebay, because of the high fees and high likelihood of losing their item to a scammer enabled by Ebay's idiocy.
At the Post Office near me, in the little town of 300 people, prior to '08, there was always a line of people shipping packages- all Ebay sellers. Last 5 years, there hasn't been one line at that PO any time I've gone!
Ebay is going down! It might take a while, because they are so big, and always have a new batch of people who don't know any better....but the new sellers are not like us guys who were in it for the long haul. They come....and 3 months later they're gone.
And the best thing about THIS forum: No Ebay cheerleaders!
Yes the public is catching on to eBay's dirty little secrets.
And the automated NARU Machine Purge Bots (Guardrail) is running overtime. I did a video webcast interview yesterday with this seller that lost his business and may have to file bankruptcy due to eBay's actions. He was an eBay member in good standing since 2001. To add insult to injury, eBay told him in their canned automated response "You can still Buy on eBay!" Talk about a slap in the face!
If eBay's investors knew eBay tossed "Their" $3-5 Grand Month out the door they would be livid!
eBay just sucks more and more each day. I feel sorry for those that depend on the site to earn a living. John Donahoe and his cohorts need to GO GO GO!
Yea i see ole Black*Max posting.
That little piggy is done - stick a fork in it.
A site like this is not where a lot of people would like to post. I had a lot of friends over there, but that was then and this is now. Lots of them post on Judi's forum and Facebook.
Shame eBay Motors turned into a big pay toilet!
There's more going on in the NARU Messenger eBay forum.
This little old lady has been an eBay member since 1998. In 16 years she had 1 Neg and 1 Neutral. eBay permanently suspended her for a link on her ME page. That link has been there for a good 10 years and since they offered these ME pages. Unbelievable a permanent suspension for a petty violation.
Someone should take John Donahoe out back behind the wood shed and give him a serious ass whoopin!
Sorry but i don't know any better way to express myself. I say it like i see it with no beating around the bush! One reason they gave me the bums rush out of the data dump!
Heh, Doc, I refer to Ebay as "The gulag". I can't believe that so many people[sellers] are still willing to take their abuse. And it kills me how Dung-a-hole has ruined it, because in the early years, I thought Ebay was the best thing since sliced bread! I have NEVER in all of my life seen a business willingly alienate so many of it's customers...and it's BEST customers, at that!
They get rid of people like that lady you mentioned. -Those were the people I would buy from! The junk sellers from China and Hong Kong; and the sleazebags selling "new" [read: seconds and salvage] items out of a self-storage locker, they seem to love and encourage. Yeah...like I'm going to pay the same or MORE for such items from them, when I can get them at the same price on Amazon or another quality retailer, brand-new!
I bought a book[used] one time from a small seller. He took ten days to ship it out. Was that a problem for me? Hell no! It said in his ad "I only ship once a week". It wasn't like I was waiting for a new kidney or something...it was a book, which would sit around for a year or two before I'd even read it. I left the guy great feedback. Ebay won't have that, though....no.....they don't think buyers should have the choice of deciding whether or not to do business with someone who ships once a week, because they actually may have a life apart from Ebay.....so they purged sellers like that, despite 100% feedback. A few months after I bought that book, I went to look for more from that seller, but he was gone.
I just stymies me, how they could so ruin it for both buyers and sellers. My new mantra is: Ebay is irrelevant. They've made themselves irrelevant, by ruining the unique marketplace they had...and trying to foist themself off as a third-party bad copy of Amazon. So now I just shop on Amazon.
As for this forum; yeah...it may be slow....but if only a few of the others would join-in and start posting, that's all it would take. I don't understand why they aren't coming. I don't do Facebook....and I just don't have the time to mess with yet another [Judi's] forum, even if I knew what it was...... Ah well.....it looks like the years of bantering with gang may be coming to an end.
It seems that even Mr. Elmwood has been handed a "vacation" over there. You KNOW the mods have to be psychotic to ban HIM!!! The virtual world is proving to be even crappier than the real world! I'm starting to yearn for print classifieds and telephones! [REAL telephones...I DETEST cell phones and smart phones! I ain't giving up my landline for nothing!]
I love technology. Sitting in the car while gf is shopping and entering this with my smartphone. Samsung Galaxy S3 running Firefox android beta browser.
Facebook is good too though I limit it to family only. I was in Thailand last month snapping photos and video clips and instantly uploading them to Facebook as we were on the go. The technology is very helpful, especially for businesses.
Since getting the big eBay boot I now specialize in internet and social media marketing for car dealers. All the dealers I know have given up on eBay for selling cars.
No wonder the eBay discussion board is dead. Cant believe the mods gave Elmwood a vacation! He should come over here and post. Lithium is probably being pressured to close that forum. Makes sense with them moving posts to other boards and suspending posters.
Here's an old video from 1999 about eBay local. I watch it every now and then to reminisce about the good old days. Hard to believe it's been 15 years since i became an eBay seller.
Hey Ed, good to see you here!
[Edit: Oh...that's you, Doc! Thought it was Mopar Ed! :D]
Meh, the technology is kind of cool.....but what it allows the wrong people to do- i.e. Google/NSA/Microshaft/etc. spying; selling your data. Tracking you via GPS and your cell phone; Even many of the new TVs are spying on you. and if that's not bad enough, it seems like all this technology is destroying people's ability to communicate personally (Maybe not with old fogies like us, but these kids today, computers and cell phones and texting are all they know), and it seems like it's destroying people's ability to do anything manually anymore- heck, it's getting so clerks can't make change of a dollar unless the computer tells them how much. Heck, I do my checkbook math in my head, and people look at me like I'm some kind of superman. And I think the very worst thing, is that with all this technology, nobody has the time anymore to just sit and be quiet and listen to their inner voice and think. It's like now they have to have outside stimulation 24/7. It's like they're afraid of so much as one minute of silence, or thinking or sitting still.
But yeah, I remember when I started selling on Ebay in '02. It seemed so great. Instead of meeting people who would be late or maybe never even show, and wasting hours of time showing cars to tire-kickers, ya'd just list it...and a week later, ya'd get paid and wave bye-bye to the car. Sweet! I kept thinking: If only this had been around in the mid 90's when I was scrapping cars for $50 a piece....I could have sold those cars or at least parted them, and made at least $500 a piece on Ebay! I was almost tempted to get another tow truck and get back into scrapping....
Then all the BS started....and in '08 when they announced the "new Ebay", I closed my account.
There were two great days in my Ebay-selling career: The day I opened my account; And the day I closed it! Of the two, I'd say closing my account was by far the better! I felt like a Jew escaping from Auschwitz! It was truly liberating!
Now, to watch that video and reminisce!
Yea that wuz me. Forgot this accounts password using my smartphone. It would be nice to hear from Mopar Ed. Great guy who knows his Mopars well.
All this technology has killed our Privacy Rights. That i don't like one bit. Going to be 62 soon so I'm from the real old school. My phone tracked my flight to Thailand. I can see the route on a map even though there was no internet access, plus everywhere we went in Thailand.
Sooner or later babies born will be outfitted with a tracking device and given a ID number. If that person is wanted for anything all the feds have to do is click a mouse to pin-point his/her location. It's coming!
Facebook was the start of our privacy being shared with the feds. And i love how they suggest friends to me. They are supposed to target people with ads after studying our friends relationships marriage status etc, but despite my profile saying I'm in a relationship they went for about a month suggesting nearby strip joints to me.. I stopped that by leaving one sleaze pit a 1 star review.. LOL!
Now with this forum and the blog i auto share posts and blog comments to Twitter Facebook and Google Plus. Every time a post gets tweeted a hoard of rogue bots come over and scrape the crap out of the posts. The biggest offender is Amazon's AWS cloud hosting service. Tons of sleazy data hogs hiding behind amazon's cloak of anonymity. It got so bad i ended up hosting my sites in the cloud where i could block countries like China, Romania, Ukraine and a bunch of others hosting sleaze bags.
You are right about the eBay advantage back in the good old days. No tire kickers and circle jerks to deal with off the street. I often said eBay brought honor to the car business. I know i did everything in my power to be sure my buyers were pleased with their car.
I remember talking to the owner of Auction123.com back when they first started. They were listing cars for franchised dealers and were getting blasted by negative feedback. I suggested they teach the dealerships how to use eBay. I remember as clear as day the guy saying "we don't care if the car sells - all we want is the listing fee." But the oh-mighty dollar took precedence and the rest is just fond memories now.
Been 15 years for me. Time sure has flew by!
Wow! They don't care if the car sells... Even over-looking the total lack of integrity, what a short-sighted way to run a business! I mean....a repeat customer is there best asset/advertisement- and costs far less than acquiring new customers....just wow! (A lesson which Ebay seems to studiously disregard, also!)
Mopar Ed doesn't seem to post on EBM anymore, either. So many good ones falling away from that board. He's definitely one of the good ones.
I was just reading something today about how Google just acquired another company, which has to do with "smart technology" in people's homes. Really scary- it's like people are just inviting these morally-bankrupt companies (and the parasitic gov't) into every facet of their lives by purchasing everything from smart appliances and thermostats, to cars with black boxes......
I have a Tracfone...I carry it just for emergencies- don't even turn it on, except when I need to make a call (Which is almost never!)- That is just freaky about how they can track you, even in Thailand. 1984 is here.
If it weren't for Linux, I likely wouldn't even be using a computer anymore. And even some versions of Linux OS's are getting as bad as Microsoft- i.e. the recent incarnations of Ubuntu (I take it you're familiar with Linux...) I'm using a nice little minimalist distro now, called Crunchbang...lets me do everything I need to do, without all the bloat and crap. (If I remember correctly from when you were on EBM, you weren't a Linux fan.... but it's sure come a long way, just in the few years I've been using it)
Speaking of Facebook.... It's amazing. A few years back, I started an account just to spy on some people- under a fictional one-word name. I'd just ask the people I wanted to spy on to "friend me" (so I could access their pages)....and they did- without even knowing who I was! It just boggles my mind...they don't even have a thought of privacy.
Here ya go.. The @eBay pay toilet is plugged up again in San Jose.. Hahahahaha..
Amazing! Just like Microsoft...all these years, and they still can't even do the most basic security! (But if a legit seller puts a pic in his auction that isn't the right size or something...THAT they will catch!)
Great video, Doc. Hopefully I'll have some time tonight, I'll watch a bunch of your vids.
It really blows my mind that @eBay refuses to secure their website! Just shows how much they care about their shoppers safety.
This redirect crap has gone on so long that the U.S. Government issues this US-CERT #808921 Advisory in 2006. Cappnonymous said it's dates back to around 2000 before the term XSS was labeled.
