Ouch.. Here’s another eBay buyers tale of woe about a used car deal gone bad.
Once again, Do NOT send payment for a vehicle until you have inspected it and it’s supporting title registration etc. If you are out of state spend the $$ and have the vehicle inspected. If you don’t do your homework first you could wind up stuck like chuck!
From this eBay Motors forum post:
Here is the auction number: 151014250542 I bought the Chrysler and the seller said he would be able to deliver it to a location near me seeing that I was in the same state. I paid for it with PayPal with an initial deposit of $500.00 and then another PayPal payment for the remainder. Made arrangements fo meet him last Saturday and he e-mailed saying that he had got called to work (truck driver), he couldn’t make it Saturday and e-mailed that he had got stuck in St. Louis. Got an e-mail today and he said that his girlfriend had been driving the car and it had been rear ended and totaled. He asked for my e-mail so that he could refund the money, which I sent him. This was a couple of hours ago and I have heard nothing yet. The ad seemed legit but I am getting worried. Will I be covered by PayPal if it urns out to be a scam? Should I just be patient? Is there a way to get his address from Ebay?
